Let’s talk truth in Tech…
What should you know before accepting a tech role when you have minimal experience and no certifications? Do you know that military veterans can commit crimes against you in the workplace and get away with it? This of course is a new America. Prepare yourself and know your rights.
Dark side to tech roles
You see, I accepted the role as a contractor for a third-party facilities management company based in the UK. I had limited experience; however, once I understood the expectations of the role, I quickly dived in because I rather enjoyed learning something new. I started out as a Facilities Administrator in July 2016 and in about 5 months time, I was offered a permanent position as the Global Security Analyst. Exciting, right. If I could turn back the clock, I would have researched the role throughly about what happens in tech roles, especially when you report discrimination. It has been very dangerous for me since being laid off in February 2020. I didn’t know I was in danger. Actually, I was in danger while in the role and did not have a clue. One of my replacements was in a high speed chase and died as a result. When his Go Fund Me page came across my work computer, I was in disbelief. He had such a beautiful family. They appeared to be a young family. He had a wife and three children. I never met him in person, but I remember his emails coming through from time to time. I found him to be rather pleasant.
What has happened since the layoff in 2020 from Corporate America?
Because I have an investigative background, I eventually figured out there was a target on my back from Invesco, regarding my personal cell phone. When I was laid off, I was told that I did a great job and that the company was going through a reorganization. Let me add, I was taken to the 21st floor to go through the layoff process and my cell phone was never mentioned. The reason I ‘m mentioning the cell phone is because on the 21st floor, I could not record anything to prove the conversation. My phone was not functioning normally. I dismissed the issue. During the course of my employment, I requested a work phone and was told it was not in the budget. The manager that replaced the manager that I reported discrimination on, advised that I should consider a gold card which is a medical insurance card. I thought it was odd that he would recommend a card for me to go to Bentaub Hospital. I dismissed the cell phone situation and the gold card. I viewed as protocol for the exit interview. There’s one issue. The new manager, never mentioned transitioning the work or that there was an issue regarding my cell phone and because we were dealing with Covid, due to being a global company, i didn’t think it through. I started to connect the dots of course when I was getting numerous spam calls. I actually thought I was dealing with scammers. No, this was the client of the company that I worked for. I contacted my previous employer and was told that I was eligible for rehire. I was prevented from working for approximately 3 years, not realizing that my name was slandered. I had not issue receiving renters assistance, but I could not land a role. Let’s run a quick timeline….
Timeline of Events
2022 – I went to T-mobile to purchase a new phone since I decided to start a business. I was assisted by one of the reps and didn’t think about the rep whispering to another rep. At the time, I didn’t realized it was about me. I needed assistance with my phone since, I now had two phones and was experiencing constant interference while in my apartment. There were other issues that I explained to the rep, before I knew it, the rep transferred my files from my old phone to my new business phone. Needless to say, I was not pleased with service because that is not what I requested. When traveling in the general area where I live there were some disturbing encounters on the road. I didn’t realized that the vehicles riding close to my bumper were doing it intentionally ally.
2023– I was able to land a job as a Facilities Services Business Manager at a Houston school district in January. During the interview process, I quickly realized that I needed an attorney and I had to be careful how I answered the questions. The questioning was going in the direction of a setup and I had not worked in so long. I just wanted to work again so that I could provide for myself and my daughter. While working at the school district, I had to deal with workplace bullying at an old military base. It’s only by the grace of God that I was able to endure it for so long. Law offices would not accept the case and would tell me to hurry up due to time limitation.
2024– I eventually reached out to the Department of Justice twice and Homeland Security at the direction of the NAACP. According to the NAACP, I was experiencing organized crime. I was in a wreck and was told by the Houston Police Department, that I could not report the accident in the state of Texas and must only communicate with the insurance company since an ambulance was not called. The police would not review the video footage a the local convenience store. I received letters from the law office for individuals involved in the wreck with no communication due to driving my daughter’s vehicle that was in her father’s name. The DOJ referred me to the EEOC. I went to the EEOC located in downtown Houston. One I arrived and was set up to use their computer, everything was shut down, phones and computers. While there I contacted the NAACP, the shut down was the result, I could not use my computer at my residence because my devices were hacked. The next day, We are living in a time where there is no due process. Most law offices have been threatened with sanctions. So what are American citizens supposed to do. One thing you should not do is give up. Corporate America has plenty of money and will do anything to gain more wealth. I went to work and submitted an EEO complaint through Employee Relations on November 21, 2024. The local government and Corporate America partnered to commit crimes against me by going in my purse in search of my cell phone. All they had to do while I worked on the client site was ask or provide guidance on what I needed to do.
2025– I received a Conference for Record on May 20, 2025 after hours; however, I did not see it until the next day when I arrived to work. Keep in mind that, my EEO complaint had not been addressed. On May 21, 2025, I contacted Employee Relations to inquire about the EEO complaint and they claimed to be unaware of the CFR. I agreed to go through with the interview so that they could complete the investigation. Oh, did I forget to mention that I followed up on the EEO complaint prior to receiving the CFR. I had to report to the police that someone broke the frame of my license plate causing the license plate to be bent. I reported this issue to the Pearland Police department. I advised that it was due to retaliation. I was contacted by an officer that stated he would transfer the case to a detective. Today is July 21st and no detective has contacted me. When I went to the Houston Police Department on January 6, 2025, the officer allowed me to provide a brief statement and then gave me a small piece of paper to reference to report; however, the paper stated, “delay report”. No detective has contacted me. The plan is to silence you and slander your name. For a while, I was not reporting anything to protect my family, but I knew I had to get this documented. American citizens will now have to take steps to protect themselves. If you live in an apartment, forget privacy. Protect your food and drink. They can do what they want without consequence. When I was almost hit by a truck as I was leaving out of a grocery store, the driver and passenger laughed. The police would not retrieve the video footage. I went to the Pearland Police department, the city in which occurred. There have been other occurrences. I went to get a copy of the police reports and they listed MHMR. Prepare yourself to deal with these types of situations as it relates to tech roles. Make sure you know what you’re getting into to, especially if you do not have military background. Veterans have been weaponized in the workplace. I now understand what happens to our young people who join the military. They can’t fight back. Let’s change this, not only for them, but for American citizens!
